2005 Field Hockey Season Review

Led by second-year head coach Bob Kelley, the Framingham State College Field Hockey team finished the season 9-9, fourth place in the MASCAC and fifth place in the Little East Conference (LEC).  The Rams earned an LEC Tournament spot for the third season in a row, but failed to advance to the second round.  The Rams were led by senior captain Jennifer Johnson (Uxbridge, MA) who added to her own career records set last season as she finished her career with 34 goals and 81 points.  She earned MASCAC and LEC First Team recognition for her outstanding play in her final season with the Rams.   Joining Johnson on the MASCAC First Team was junior goalie Lindsay McKearney (North Attleboro, MA) and sophomore midfielder Erin Johnson (Uxbridge, MA). McKearney continued her excellent play in net with a 2.02 goals against average and posted 3 shutouts.  The younger Johnson was a major defensive and offensive threat for the Rams and finished the season second on the team in points with 17. Sarah Ledbetter (Westborough, MA) and Meghan Staffiere (Norwood, MA) were selected to the ALL-MASCAC Second Team. For the first time in program history, the Rams earned a bid the Eastern Coast Athletic Conference New England Field Hockey Tournament, but fell to Wellesley College 4-1 in the opening round. The Rams look to further their success next season and recapture the MASCAC title.
