2005 Volleyball Season Review

Under second year head coach Richard Casali, the Framingham State volleyball team continued to build on last year’s success this season, finishing 19-12 overall, second in the MASCAC at  5-1, and making a fifth consecutive trip to the MASCAC Tournament. The Rams defeated Westfield State in the semifinals before falling in the conference finals to defending champ Bridgewater State.  The Rams were led by sophomore setter Liz Pedro (Brockton, MA) who earned weekly MASCAC Honor Roll recognition four times this season and was named to the All-MASCAC First Team.  Senior Tara Costa (Fairhaven, MA), who led the team in digs with 511, and senior Christine Iannalfo (Methuen, MA) earned All-MASCAC Second Team recognition for their contributions to the Rams this season.  Costa was also selected CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division District 1 Third Team for the second year in a row for her talent on the court and in the classroom.  With only two seniors departing, the Rams look to build upon this season’s success in the MASCAC and challenge for a championship next year.
