Professional Development Programs

Our graduate certificate and professional development programs provide you with alternative courses of study to enhance your career. Choose from our Graduate Certificate in Online Nutrition Education or our one-credit courses offered through the Online Professional Development Center. Four-credit courses are available through our Division of Graduate and Continuing Education.

Certificate in Nutrition Education
If you are a nutrition professional or teacher interested in gaining additional expertise in nutrition, you can earn a Graduate Certificate in Nutrition Education. The certificate courses are offered online through the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education.

The Certificate has two tracks: one for nutrition professionals, and one for teachers and other professionals. Both are designed to provide additional expertise in nutrition for career enhancement. All courses leading to the Certificate carry four graduate credits (90 PDPs for teachers) and are offered online using BlackBoard.

Continuing Education Classes
Explore a new career path in nutrition. Nutrition professionals can enroll in any four-credit, graduate course offered by FSC provided they meet the prerequisites for the course and space is available. Courses are offered on the Framingham campus as well as online. The DGCE provides a current course schedule.

Online Professional Development Center for Educators
Earn graduate credit without leaving home. Our Online Professional Development Center for Educators provides you with a convenient and affordable way to earn graduate credit and fulfill your Professional Portfolio Plans.

One-credit online courses (22.5 PDPs) are designed for teachers, nutritional professionals and others to expand their expertise in nutrition and pedagogy. Currently, the following courses are offered throughout the academic year and and summer:

  • Exploring Food Allergies
  • Managing Life Threatening Food Allergies in Schools
  • Weighing the Risks: Sports Supplements and High School Athletes
  • Nutrition as a Teaching Tool in Middle School Curriculum
  • Culture and Food: Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean

The DGCE provides a current schedule of online classes.
