Homecoming 2007: Post-Grad, Pre-Game, After Party

On Saturday, October 13, a record number of Framingham State College alumni gathered with students, families, staff and friends to enjoy a crisp, autumn day and the annual Homecoming program.  This year the schedule was packed with events for all ages and included athletic games, activities run by student clubs and organizations as well as a pre-game brunch and post-game tailgate barbeque.  This year many alumni came with Ram pride, dressed in Framingham State College apparel, and they cheered on the teams along the fence, through the tent and up in the stands, which were at capacity.

College Advancement Welcomes Quiray as Associate Director

Maria Quiray has joined the College Advancement staff as the new Associate Director. In this role, Quiray coordinates and serves as the primary point of contact for alumni events, benefits and services.  She is also responsible for marketing and communications related to alumni relations, including managing the on-line community, and has begun working with alumni classes, clubs and alumni board members to support and strengthen alumni involvement across the country.

“Alumni are a very important part of the College community,” Quiray stated.  “I was very impressed when I started at the College this summer.  Framingham State College alumni, across many generations, have some amazing stories to share about their successes and contributions to our society. FSC alumni have become leaders in our communities, role models for our young, and some of our strongest allies in promoting a public higher education. I believe alumni can help strengthen this college through their involvement and I am here to help make the connections, opportunities and programs possible to support their experiences as alums and student success today.”

Proud to be a Part of Red Sox Nation

There was a buzz of excitement in Uno's Bar & Grill at Kenmore Square as Framingham State alumni and friends gathered for a pre-game social, once in July and once in September.  Dr. Timothy and Dr. Nancy Flanagan attended and enjoyed meeting some of the Fenway faithful, whose conversations focused on how the Red Sox were doing this season and stories about their time or connection to the College.  There was no doubt that these groups were proud to be a part of Red Sox nation and Framingham State College and the Office of College Advancement has committed to bringing more alumni to Fenway next year.

Tanglewood in August

A group of sixty-seven alumni, friends and College Advancement staff ventured once again to Lenox, MA to enjoy a Sunday afternoon at Tanglewood.  Those who attended enjoyed a picnic lunch with wine and soft drinks on the lawn prior to the performance and then the entire group gathered in their seats under the Shed to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment.  Keith Lockhart and the Boston Symphony Orchestra played an all-Gershwin performance and concluded with a lively, feet-thumping Star Spangle Banner surprise ending.  It was a beautiful day in a beautiful atmosphere with alums claiming that it is a must repeat for summer 2008!
