Coach Barron took over as the men’s and women’s head cross country coach in 2007 after serving as an assistant coach in 2006.  Coach Barron has been running for over fifteen years and has an impressive coaching background.   Coach Barron graduated from Westfield State College with a degree in communications.  While running for the Owls, Barron was the 2002 Most Improved Runner and finished 6th in the 2002 MASCAC Cross Country Championships.  Prior to attending Westfield State, Barron attended the Community College of Rhode Island where he also ran on their cross country team.  In 1998 Barron was named the Most valuable runner for the CCRI cross country team where he finished 80th at the 1998 NJCAA Cross Country Championships.  Coach Barron has won over 50 road races in New England and run 10 half marathons while also competing in two full marathons.  Barron, who is USATF Level I certified, currently resides in Norwood with his fiancé, Alison.
