In the event of an unanticipated natural disaster, such as a hurricane, tornado, flood, or severe storm, the University President/designee will assess the situation and determine the appropriate response. She/he will: 

  1. Notify Campus Police.
  2. Notify Facilities/Buildings/Grounds.
  3. Notify Residence Life staff.

Emergency school closing: In the event of an impending natural disaster, an emergency school closing may be required. This decision to close a school building during school hours can only be made by the President/designee after a complete evaluation of the emergency conditions.

  • Receive all information from the appropriate civil emergency reporting services relative to the situation.
  • Notify Campus Police.
  • Notify Facilities/Buildings/Grounds.
  • Notify Residence Life.
  • Assess all information with designated staff members.
  • Inform community of decision to close school.

The Vice President of Administration and Finance will notify designated local broadcast networks. Coordinate any transportation needs, particularly for the physically challenged.
