While navigating your next four years at Framingham State University, we encourage you to come up with a plan. Your plan should include determining/finalizing your major, considering a variety of career options, and gaining direct experience through an internship, co-op, student teaching or practicum. Here is a potential plan for first-year students and Sophomores to consider:

  • Visit us. We are in room 412 of the McCarthy Center.  Learn more about what we do and how we can help.  Have a career conversation by meeting with one of our Career Counselors.
  • Use our website. Resources available 24/7/365.
  • Get organized. Use our Career Search Checklist.
  • Learn about you. Explore your interests, skills, personality and values through FOCUS-2® and MyPlan.
  • Draft your resume. Get it started and have us review it.  Use our Info to Go: Resumes for ideas.
  • Build your GPA.  Your professors really do want to help you, so visit them during their office hours.  In addition, the Center for Academic Support and Advising (CASA) is an excellent resource for tutoring and advising.
  • Get involved. Participate in leadership activities. Join a club, start a club and attend events.  Contact Student Involvement and Leadership Development (SILD).
  • Attend our career events and programs. Employers come to campus because they want to recruit Framingham State University students. Network with them at our events.  It's never too early to begin.
  • Consider studying abroad. Excellent life-changing and career-building experience. It's never too early to start planning. Connect with our Office of International Education for more information.
  • Upgrade your summer job. Begin gaining direct, career experience.  Use RAMTRACK to search for part-time jobs and/or internships.
