You've completed two years of college and your junior year is an ideal time to get more focused on your career plan. Your plan should include becoming immersed in your major, considering a variety of career options, and gaining direct experience through an internship, co-op, student teaching or practicum. Here is a potential plan for juniors to consider:
- Visit us. We are in room 412 of the McCarthy Center. Learn more about what we do and how we can help. Have a career conversation by meeting with one of our Career Counselors.
- Use our website. Resources available 24/7/365.
- Get organized. Use our Career Search Checklist.
- Learn about you. Explore your interests, skills, personality and values through FOCUS-2® and MyPlan.com.
- Fine tune your resume. If you have one, let us review it. Use our Info to Go: Resumes for ideas. Once you have one drafted, let us review it.
- Keep up your GPA. If you haven't taken advantage of the excellent tutoring resources, consider it now. Visit Center for Academic Support and Advising (CASA).
- Make sure you're on track to graduate. Check in with your advisor and be sure you're meeting the requirements necessary to complete your degree.
- Attend our career events and programs. Employers come to campus because they want to recruit Framingham State University students. Network with them at our events.
- Continue to be involved. Leadership activities help build skills. Employers love students who are involved inside and outside of the classroom. Contact Student Involvement and Leadership Development (SILD).
- Gain real experience. Internships are absolutely critical. You gain real experience as well as begin to determine if what you had in mind for a career is truly interesting to you. Use RAMTRACK to search for internships.

- Research programs online and explore ideas with your faculty and one of our Career Counselors.
- Which test will you need? GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, MAT?
- Complete applications by the deadlines and build in enough time to complete your essays.
- Speak with faculty and other potential references early! Be sure to give them enough lead time.
