Graduation is around the corner.  This is a very exciting time and can also be a bit stressful.  Beyond completing the courses you need to graduate, you need a career Plan.  Your plan should include finalizing your academic requirements, focusing your career options, and gaining direct experience through an internship, co-op, student teaching or practicum.  Here is a potential plan for seniors to consider:

  • Visit us early and often. We are in room 412 of the McCarthy Center.  Learn more about what we do and how we can help.  Have a career conversation by meeting with one of our Career Counselors.
  • Don't wait until after graduation. Start now. Employers are looking for candidates now. If you wait, you will miss out.
  • Your first career will not be your last. It's okay not to have you entire life after college planned. It's okay to not know exactly what you want to do. You do need to plan something and again, we can help--meet with us.
  • Use our website. Resources available 24/7/365.
  • Get organized. Use our Career Search Checklist.
  • Learn about you. Explore your interests, skills, personality and values through FOCUS-2® and MyPlan.
  • Keep up your GPA.  If you haven't taken advantage of the excellent tutoring resources, consider it now.  Visit Center for Academic Support and Advising (CASA) .
  • Make sure you're on track to graduate. Check in with your advisor and be sure you're meeting the requirements necessary to complete your degree.
  • Attend our career events and programs. Employers come to campus because they want to recruit Framingham State University students. Network with them at our events.
  • Continue to be involved. Leadership activities help build skills. Employers love students who are involved inside and outside of the classroom. Contact Student Involvement and Leadership Development (SILD).
  • Gain real experience. Internships are absolutely critical. You gain real experience as well as begin to determine if what you had in mind for a career is truly interesting to you.  Use RAMTRACK to search for internships.
  • Consider studying abroad. You may still be able to fit in this excellent life-changing and career-building experience. Connect with our Office of International Education for more information.
  • Interested in graduate school? Start researching now.
    • Research programs online and explore ideas with your faculty and one of our Career Counselors.
    • Which test will you need? GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, MAT?
    • Complete applications by the deadlines and build in enough time to complete your essays.
    • Speak with faculty and other potential references early! Be sure to give them enough lead time.
    • Explore our additional resources regarding Graduate School.
