At the Center for Academic Support and Advising, we work to assist students in making the transition from high school to college. A big part of that transition is learning appropriate study skills. Many students find that the study skills that were successful for them in high school no longer work in college. Reasons for this include increased hours of homework, fewer hours of in-class time, and the cumulative nature of exams.
Students enjoy the college experience more fully when they are successful in class. In addition, good grades can lead to more scholarships, better internships, and Latin honors (for example, cum laude.) For this reason, CASA supports classroom learning with tutors, workshops, and study skills information. We encourage ALL students to take advantage of our support services.
