At Framingham State College, a fully equipped food pilot plant is accessible for all food science majors for both class and research work. The pilot plant is in intricate part of a food science major's discipline, providing him/her with access to the most recent food processing technologies. The pilot plant is used for food science courses such as Food Chemistry and Food Engineering and Processing along with any research the student may be performing. The pilot plant contains equipment for spray drying, freeze drying, colloid milling, HTST pasteurization and many other processes that provide the student with necessary skills needed for future employment or graduate school.
