| ARTICLE I: Name |
    The name of this organization shall be the Mathematics Club of Framingham State College. |
| ARTICLE II: Purpose |
    The purpose of this organization shall be to explore, study, and discuss various aspects of mathematics and its related fields, and to broaden interest in mathematics within the Framingham State College Community through club activities. Club activities shall include presentations by guest speakers and club members, mathematical discussions, field trips, mathematics competitions, and other mathematically related endeavors. |
| ARTICLE III: Membership |
        1.   Voting membership in this organization shall be open to any full- or part-time student-activity-fee-paying student enrolled in a minimum of two courses per semester who is in good academic and social standing as determined by college regulations. |
        2.   Non-voting membership in this organization shall be open to any member of the Framingham State College Community who has an interest in mathematics and a desire to actively participate in the affairs of the club. |
| ARTICLE IV: Meetings |
    Meetings shall be held whenever deemed necessary by the Executive Board. Said meetings shall be announced to the general membership of the club by the Secretary. |
| ARTICLE V: Organization |
| Section A: Officers |
        1.   President |
        2.   Vice President |
        3.   Secretary |
        4.   Treasurer |
        5.   Advisor |
| Section B: Election of Officers |
        1.   At the first meeting of the current academic year, open elections shall be held to establish officers. |
        2.   The highest ranking officer of the previous year’s Executive Board present or the Advisor shall preside over the election. |
        3.   Officers shall be elected in the following order: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Advisor. |
        4.   Nominations shall be accepted from the general membership of the club at this time, and any member of the Framingham State College student body shall be eligible for nomination. Nominations must then be seconded and accepted in order to establish official candidacy. |
        5.   Voting shall be by secret ballot. If no candidate obtains a majority of votes from the voting membership on the first ballot, a run-off shall occur between the two candidates receiving the greatest numbers of votes. |
        6.   The Advisor shall count all votes. |
        7.   Officers may run for re-election. |
| Section C: Term of Office |
    The term of office for any elected position shall be for the current academic year. |
| Section D: Recall of Officers |
        1.   In the event of any impropriety on the part of an officer, the general membership shall submit a petition requesting the recall of said officer. The petition shall describe the impropriety and the names of two-thirds of the general membership. |
        2.   In the event that the President is accused of impropriety, the Vice President shall temporarily assume all duties of the President and appoint a temporary Vice President. |
        3.   In the event that any other officer is accused of impropriety, the President shall appoint a temporary officer to assume the duties of said officer. |
        4.   Upon viewing the petition, if the Executive Board and the Advisor deem that an impropriety has taken place and that just cause has been established for the recall of said officer, a hearing shall be scheduled in which the general membership shall officially present its grievance and the officer accused shall be given an opportunity to defend himself/herself. |
        5.   Following the hearing, a two-thirds vote of the voting membership shall be required to recall said officer. |
| Section E: Vacancies |
        1.   In the event that the Presidency is vacated, the Vice President shall assume all duties of the President and appoint a temporary Vice President. |
        2.   In the event of any other vacancies, the President shall appoint a temporary officer to temporarily fill the vacancy until the voting membership elects an officer. |
        3.   Vacancies must be filled by a majority of votes from the voting membership within one month after such vacancy occurs. |
| Section F: Function of Officers |
|         1.   President |
            a.   To call and preside over all meetings of the club. |
            b.   To serve as host to all visiting dignitaries. |
            c.   To cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie at Executive Board meetings. |
            d.   To serve as Chairperson of the Executive Board. |
            e.   To authorize all payments to be made by the Treasurer. |
|         2.   Vice President |
            a.   To preside over all meetings in the absence of the President. |
            b.   To act as ex-officio member of all Committees. |
            c.   To serve on the Executive Board. |
|         3.   Secretary |
            a.   To maintain accurate Minutes of all meetings. |
            b.   To carry on all official correspondence of the club. |
            c.   To maintain accurate and current records of the general membership and all other non-financial activities of the club. |
            d.   To inform all club members of club meetings. |
            e.   To serve on the Executive Board. |
|         4.   Treasurer |
            a.   To maintain accurate and current records of the financial affairs of the club. |
            b.   To make expenditures, with the authorization of the President. |
            c.   To present a full financial report at any time that he/she is so directed by the President, Advisor, or majority vote of the voting membership of the club. |
            d.   To submit an annual report to the Faculty-Student Budget Committee. |
            e.   To serve on the Executive Board. |
|         5.   Executive Board |
            a.   The Executive Board shall consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. |
            b.   The President shall serve as the Chairperson of the Executive Board. |
            c.   Each member of the Executive Board shall possess equal authority, though in the event of a tie, the Chairperson shall cast the deciding vote. |
            d.   The responsibility of the Executive Board shall be to oversee and preside over the functions of the club |
            e.   In the event that certain circumstances arise that require immediate attention and assembly of the general membership of the club would be impractical, the Executive Board and Advisor shall be given the authority to conduct emergency business. Any business conducted in an emergency business meeting shall be reported to the general membership of the club at the next general meeting and shall be subject to approval by a majority vote of the voting membership. |
|         6.   Advisor |
            a.   The Advisor shall be elected by a majority vote of the general membership. |
            b.   The Advisor must be a member of the Framingham State College Mathematics Department. |
| ARTICLE VI: Committees |
        1.   Committees shall be established whenever deemed necessary by the Executive Board. |
        2.   The Executive Board shall appoint all Committee Chairpersons. |
        3.   Each Committee Chairperson shall present an oral report at each club meeting concerning the activity of his/her Committee. |
        4.   Each Committee Chairperson shall submit a written report to the general meeting. Said report shall be included in the Minutes of said meeting. |
| ARTICLE VII: Amendments |
| Section A |
    Amendments to this Constitution shall be introduced by the general membership at any general meeting. |
| Section B |
    A two-thirds ( ) majority vote of the voting membership of this club shall be necessary to amend this Constitution. All amendments receiving a two-thirds ( ) majority vote shall be submitted to S.G.A. for approval. |
