Presenter: Anne B. Lutz, M.D.
This one-day workshop sponsored by Framingham State University’s Office of Continuing Education provides an introduction to the practice of solution-focused skills and techniques. Participants will learn to recognize the unique aspects of the solution-focused approach and how this differs from problem-focused models. There will be opportunities to practice, and video illustrations will enhance the learning experience so that participants can immediately begin to implement these skills with clients.
Our presenter is Anne B. Lutz, M.D., the Director of Training for the Institute for Solution-Focused Therapy, and a board-certified adult and child and adolescent psychiatrist. Dr. Lutz was trained by the founders of solution-focused therapy, Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer, and has provided training seminars with Insoo Kim Berg and Yvonne Dolan, Executive Director of the Institute for Solution-Focused Therapy.
Dr. Lutz is also an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, and medical director of a residential treatment center for adolescent girls suffering from addiction and co-occurring disorders that integrates solution-focused approaches within their treatment. Dr. Lutz has a private practice in West Boylston, Massachusetts, where she provides solution-focused psychiatric treatment to children and families. She is the author of Learning Solution-Focused Therapy: An Illustrated Guide, published by American Psychiatric Publishing, a division of the American Psychiatric Association.
