Course Requirements

Note: Students must choose at which level they wish to be licensed. Student teaching must be done at the level of the license sought.
Core Requirements For All Licenses
14.997 Children, Adolescents, School and Society (When possible, this course should be taken concurrently with 14.002 Field Study I.)
14.002 Field Study I (There is no credit for this course.)

Early Childhood Licensure (Prek-2)
The courses in the Early Childhood PBTL program require that students be available during the day. They are offered during fall and spring semesters.
14.320 The Young Child: Emerging Literacy with Field Study II
14.374 Early Childhood Curriculum: Mathematics with Field Study III (must be taken concurrently with 14.376)
14.376  Early Childhood Curriculum: Reading, Social Studies, and Special Needs (must be taken concurrently with 14.374)
14.431-14.432  Early Childhood Professional Practicum A and B  (one semester full-time; carries 4 course credits, equivalent to 16 semester hours) Prerequisite: Successful field study experiences 

Elementary Licensure (1-6)
14.322  The Child and Literacy with Field Study II
14.341 Elementary Curriculum: Mathematics with Field Study III  Prerequisite: Admission to 13.341 requires preparation in mathematics at least at the standard of a recent course in College Mathematics I; or the permission of the instructor (13.341 must be taken concurrently with 13.346)
14.346 Elementary Curriculum: Science, Social Studies and Special Needs (must be taken concurrently with 14.341)
14.437-14.438 Elementary Professional Practicum A and B  (one semester full-time; carries 4 course credits, equivalent to 16 semester hours) Prerequisite: successful field study experiences

Academic Subject Licenses

Some of these courses require that students be available during the day. Additional subject courses may be required. The PBTL program in English also requires 71.107 Effective Speaking.

14.315 Professional Preparation and Field Study II: High School (carries 2 course credits, equivalent to 8 semester hours, offered in the fall semester only)
14.410-14.411  Student Teaching Practicum and Seminar I and II: High School (one semester full-time; carries 4 course credits, equivalent to 16 semester hours, is offered in the spring semester only)
