Test |

Placement tests are given before the start of classes to determine your level of English. You must be registered before you can be
tested. Please bring your photo ID to testing. Testing will take
place in the McCarthy College Center, The Forum (2nd floor)
on: Monday, June 2 OR Tuesday, June 3, 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

To register by mail or fax,
download the ESL Registration Form. You may also register
in person at the Division of Graduate
and Continuing Education office. |
|
Payment
must be made at the time of registration. Payment
may be made by personal check, bank check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card. Cash is only accepted between 9:00am and 4:00pm at the Office of Graduate and Continuing office (McCarthy College
Center, room 515). Payment is due with registration.

Spring Community ESL Classes |
| Basic
ESL Classes |
|
Improve
your English communication skills in Beginner
and Intermediate level classes. Curriculum includes:
listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and
writing. Beginner and Intermediate students
will be placed in Basic ESL class levels 1-5.

| Advanced
Level Courses |
|
A
high level of English proficiency is required
for the following Advanced Level Courses. Students
must attain a score higher than 90% on the placement
exam.
|
|
TOEFL
Preparation
Teaches skills and strategies for approaching each section of the TOEFL exam. To meet requirements for both the iBT and institutional exams, speaking, listening, grammar, reading and essay writing exercises are included. The Institutional TOEFL is administered at the end of the term. Offered
Monday and Wednesday or
Tuesday and Thursday.

Advanced
Grammar
Designed
for students whose speaking ability is much higher
than their grammar knowledge and writing ability. Offered
Monday and Wednesday or
Tuesday and Thursday.

Pronunciation
and Accent Reduction
Designed to increase
the student's confidence and clarity of speech.
Individual assessment and skill identification
enable students to select personal pronunciation
goals. Offered
Monday and Wednesday only.

|
Business
English
Study
the contemporary forms of oral and written communication
found in business. Learn to effectively use
English as an individual and also as part of a work
team. Offered
Tuesday and Thursday only.
|
|
Improving
Oral Communication Skills
Includes both training and practice in the principles
and techniques of modern oral communication.
Improvement of voice, diction and articulation
will be highlighted. Offered Tuesday and Thursday
only. |

Improving
Writing Skills
Includes the study of the elements of good writing
for letters, essays, journals and quick notes. Offered Monday
and Wednesday only. |
