Apply for Student Teaching

The student teaching practicum is a semester-long, full-time experience in public (non-charter) school classrooms appropriate to the license the individual is seeking. The student teacher is assigned to one or two classroom teachers who will serve as the Supervising Practitioner. The Supervising Practitioners must meet the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's requirements in order to serve in this capacity. Students are also supervised by a college faculty member from the Education Department who visits the student in his or her classroom on a regular basis. During the semester, student teachers complete the state-required Preservice Performance Assessment process. They have regular evaluation conferences with their supervisors, and they participate in small group student teaching seminars.
