Dr. Kelly Matthews’ new book, The Bell Magazine and the Representation of Irish Identity (Four Courts Press, Dublin), was launched on July 19, 2012 at the Boston College Ireland house in Dublin. Dr. Matthews was interviewed about the book on Newstalk radio in Dublin and recorded an interview for broadcast on The History Show on RTE Radio 1 (the radio channel for Irish public service broadcasting). In September, she was interviewed on the "Talking History" show for Dublin's Newstalk FM station. The book was reviewed in the London Sunday Times and the September 2012 issue of Books Ireland. Locally, Dr. Matthews talked about her book on November 7 at the Framingham State University Authors’ Event, sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs. On November 14, the Consul General of Ireland hosted a book launch and reception at the Boston Irish consulate.
