I have a Master of Arts degree from Syracuse University in New York and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Douglass College of Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Courses I teach include: Principles of Apparel Construction; Functional Clothing Design (outerwear, active sportswear, clothing for special needs, etc.); Apparel Industry Methods (flat sketching, portfolio development, garment specifications, computer applications using Adobe Illustrator CS3); Draping; Tailoring; Flat Pattern; Apparel Design Portfolio; and, Internship in Fashion Design and Retailing. I also teach on-site flat sketching seminars for apparel design companies.
Many of my original wearable art designs, shown in my website Photo Gallery, have been exhibited and won awards in the juried International Textile and Apparel Association Design Show. My newest design “Moonglow” was shown in Washington DC at the recent ITAA Design Exhibition.
Design magazines and books such as Belle Armoire, Threads Magazine and Fit and Fabric include articles on how I create my designs. The January 2006 and the May 2006 editions of Belle Armoire include my most recent articles on designing my wearable art. |
