Her research focuses on transitions to capitalism and democracy in Central and Eastern Europe; the spatial dimensions of economic sector growth and change; place marketing and promotion; metropolitan governance; and urban sustainability.

Dr Najjar Teaching experience included 3 years at Um-Al-Qura University in Makkah,Saudi Arabia 1998-2001,was a Fulbright Scholar at Bahrain University in 2006:and taught at Qatar University 2007-2010.
