Introduction to Geo-spatial Technologies for Social and Earth Sciences: An Institute for Middle and High School Educators
This institute offers an introduction to geo-spatial technologies, including geographic information system (GIS), remote sensing, and global positioning systems (GIS). Participants will learn how to apply these technologies in social and earth science case studies through the use of free open-source GIS platforms. Participants will also learn how to acquire free geo-spatial data from state and federal agencies for use in the classroom.

Geography Across the Disciplines: Teaching Activities for the Elementary School Classroom
This workshop will explore creative "hands-on" classroom activities that will enhance the teaching of geography through the use of the five themes in math social studies, science, and literature. The sharing of ideas and handouts allows teachers in grades 1-6 excellent resources to reinforce geography skills and content across their curriculum.

Teaching about Russia and Central Asia: A Content Institute for the Middle School
This institute provides teachers with content material, classroom resources, and teaching strategies for interdisciplinary teaching about the cultural and physical geography of Russia and Central Asia. We will take a thematic approach to institute content with an emphasis on history, demography, cultural diversity, climate change, economics, and politics.

Strategies and Resources for Teaching Psychology: An Institute for High School Teachers
This institute will provide teachers with practical tools for instructing secondary-level students. The sessions will focus on student-centered activities, project-based learning, and new resources to help teachers and students connect with the wide-ranging and ever-changing field of psychology. There is an emphasis on cross-cultural perspectives and the use of technology in the curriculum. Collaboration with colleagues is encouraged as we share successful ideas and useful information that will enrich our courses.
