The Archives Collection primarily consists of nineteenth and early twentieth century works on education, home economics, and cookery. It also includes books on literature, science, geography, and history.

The bulk of the collection was originally part of the first circulating library at the Normal School. After the opening of the Henry Whittemore Library in 1969, many of the older volumes were withdrawn from circulation to form the nucleus of the Archives Collection.
