Counselor (Staff Associate), Counseling Center

OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Associate

FUNCTIONAL TITLE: Counselor

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  To provide psychological evaluation, psychotherapy and crisis intervention to student clients.  To conduct preventive and outreach programming for the campus community.  To serve as liaison with faculty, staff, parents, and community resources.  To supervise graduate interns.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to the Director of the Counseling Center

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  Supervises graduate student interns, as assigned

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts initial evaluations and diagnostic assessments of students.
  • Provides consultation, crisis intervention and/or psychotherapy to students for mental health issues related to personal and educational concerns.
  • Provides group counseling sessions for students as needed.
  • Assesses need for psychological testing and provides or refers for such services as is appropriate to training.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with and refers students to other community mental health providers for treatment when appropriate.
  • Plans, initiates and conducts campus outreach and preventive programs particularly to minority and other underserved populations.
  • Prepares regular statistical reports and keeps clinical records current.
  • Collects, stores, and uses client records in accordance with state and federal laws and standards of professional ethics so that the highest level of client confidentiality may be maintained.
  • Develops and promotes Counseling Center as College resource by communicating information about services and policies of the Center to prospective clients.
  • In consultation with the Counseling Center Director, recruits, selects, orients and supervises graduate student interns as is appropriate to training/experience of Staff Associate and needs of Center.
  • Maintains a liaison relationship with field advisors and faculty of graduate students’ academic programs and attends field education meetings as related to above item.
  • May direct or coordinate specific area(s) of Counseling Center function as assigned by Director (e.g., intern training, outreach programming).
  • Consults with and advises faculty and administrative staff regarding mental health issues affecting the education process.
  • Serves as liaison to other offices/departments and serves on Student Affairs and campus-wide committees as assigned.
  • Attends/assists with College functions of general importance to the student body or College (e.g., Orientation, Commencement).

  • Is responsible for upholding federal, state and local laws as they relate to the practice of mental health.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree in related field
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Massachusetts

Residence Director (Staff Assistant), Residence Life

OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Assistant

FUNCTIONAL TITLE: Residence Director

ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 11, 2008 or as soon thereafter as possible.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  The Staff Assistant/Residence Director (RD) position is a full-time, live-in, 12-month position, which reports directly to the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs. 

The responsibilities of the position include the overall administration of the residence life and housing program in assigned residence hall/s.  Specific responsibilities include: student staffing; staff supervision; advising and counseling students; cultural, educational, & social programming; care of the residence hall facilities; crisis management; assessment; involvement with the College’s judicial system; coverage in on-call rotation and other related duties as required.  The Staff Assistant/RD will be a dedicated and energetic professional and will be expected to foster a community environment supportive of student learning and diversity.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  The Associate Dean of Student Affairs provides supervision to the Residence Director.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  The Residence Director provides supervision to student staff including Administrative Resident Assistants (ARA’s), Resident Assistants (RA’s), student mailroom staff, and Security Desk Attendants.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years previous residence life work experience in a college or university setting required.  Masters degree in CSP, counseling or a related field and a minimum of two years previous residence life work experience in a college or university setting preferred.

A criminal record check will be conducted on all finalists.

SALARY RANGE:  The position pays between $26,000 to $32,000 and excellent fringe benefits including tuition remission, health insurance and use of the College’s Athletic Center facilities. This is a live-on position.

Communications Dispatcher I, Campus Police

Duties:

Job responsibilities will include answering business and information calls; answering and processing all emergency calls in a timely fashion; maintaining direct radio communication with Campus Police Officers, town of Framingham Police & Fire; maintaining daily log in a timely fashion; answering and monitoring calls from campus emergency phones, college Nextel phones, emergency lab phones and emergency elevator phones; monitoring over 30 CCTV digital surveillance cameras; taking in and tagging all found property; deactivating College identification cards from restricted persons; querying registration and warrant checks for field Officers; filing maintenance request for determined college deficiencies; serving window/counter traffic and issuing temporary parking passes and assisting with parking decal mailings and correspondence and other related duties as required.  Dispatchers will be required to complete Power Phone dispatcher training; and maintain CPR, first aid and LEAPS/CJIC/NCIC certification.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be computer literate with various applications including computer-aided dispatch.

Salary: $523.18 weekly, plus excellent fringe benefits including tuition remission, health insurance and the use of athletic facility.

Assistant Director of Development and Director of the Annual Fund

Responsibilities: Framingham State College is seeking an individual with demonstrated experience in higher education fundraising to join the college advancement team as an Assistant Director.  The Assistant Director, reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement, will oversee the College’s efforts to raise annual financial support from alumni, parents, faculty/staff, students and friends through mail, personal and telephone solicitations, e-mail and other formats. 

Specific duties include:

1) Organize, plan and execute a comprehensive annual fund program to ensure the highest participation rate possible from all of the various constituencies of the College, including developing and implementing strategy for direct mail and telephone solicitations as well as renewals, acquisitions, personal visits, and other means of raising annual support for the College;

2) Plan and execute strategy to increase membership in the President’s Circle Society (donors of $1000 and more annually), including renewal of current and lapsed members and acquisition of new members, and recognition and cultivation of events for donors at this level, including the planning of the annual President’s Circle dinner;

3) Manage a reunion giving program designed to significantly increase giving from those alumni celebrating key reunions and manage the planning and implementation of a senior gift program;

4) Increase giving among targeted and segmented groups of alumni by tailoring messages and materials to these groups;

5) Supervise the outsourced telemarketing program; and

6) Assist with other duties as required in order to advance the mission of the advancement area. 

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree required.  Minimum of three years of fundraising experience, preferably in an academic setting.  Extensive knowledge of fundraising techniques, both direct response and personal cultivation and solicitation. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to solicit gifts and provide customer service.  Exceptional organizational, oral and written communications skills.  An understanding of marketing and printing techniques.  Familiarity with Banner, PC and database applications desired.

 BANNER STUDENT SYSTEMS USER LIAISON (STAFF ASSISTANT), INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

 I.              SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

The User Liaison will work with Banner Student system users in various administrative departments to assess, train and assist with the implementation, conversion, approved customizations and ongoing support of Banner administrative software.  

 II.            PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Consults with supervisor, systems analysts, other programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.  

Trains end users on basic Banner ERP system functions necessary for department's general operation of the system

Works with users in various administrative departments to provide functional support for the Banner ERP system.

Provides Banner functional support, and helps departments identify appropriate online and training solutions to assist in their functional use of Banner.

Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with software.

Assists departments in the review of appropriate documentation, including procedure manuals, training materials, and system documentation based on the business processes as defined by the institution or functional department.

Consults with supervisor and end users to gather information about software intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls.

Assist end-users in the use of reporting system

Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support program.  

Troubleshoot and resolve student system errors.

Serve as a Liaison between the Student Services area and ITS.

Serve as a Liaison between and Banner Student module (and related offices) and the offices supporting other Banner and non-Banner modules.

Coordinates with programmers.

III.           REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Strong communications (verbal and written) and organizational skills.

 

Good interpersonal skills with users.

 

Hands-on experience supporting SCT Banner Student system from a functional support role required with three or more years experience.

 

Project management skills related to managing multiple tasks, developing testing plans, and managing the work of other departmental resources. 

IV.
          DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience in post-secondary educational institution.

 

Familiarity with Workflow and Xtender Imaging Tools
