News and Announcements
Professor Sonja Sandberg recently had a paper published: "Dynamics of the Scale and Its Natural Enemies in a Citrus Grove at Ceiba, Cuba" with Awerbuch-Friedlander T, Gonzalez C Hernandez D Levins R, Sibat JR, and Tapia J L was published in the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Sciences.
Professor Sonja Sandberg and Professor Bill Buckreis (Education) taught two INTEL math workshop for elementary school teachers. One was in Hartford, CT and the other was in Portland, OR. The Portland, OR workshop was part of a grant from the US Dept of Education as a case-control study comparing INTEL math with business-as-usual-summer-math-PD. There were six sites across the country and only six teams were chosen to participate.
Professors Ben Atchison, Robert Page, and Nic Sedlock, along with visiting lecturer Eiki Satake, presented a poster at the New England Symposium for Statistics in Sports entitled "Set One or Set Two? A Winning Strategy in a Squash Court" in September.
