Who are the Black & Gold Orientation Leaders?
Is there a fee for parent orientation?
Yes, there is a $35.00 (non-refundable) per person fee to cover the cost of food and supplies. However, there is NO separate cost for your student to attend. Please make all checks payable to FSU Orientation Trust Fund.
What will we do for a full day?
You will hear about various offices and services on campus that we provide for students to help them transition and succeed at FSU. Click here for a complete schedule.
Will I have time with my student during the day?
Parent/Guests and students have completely different programs. You will be reunited with your student at the end of the day reception.
Where do I check-in?
Check-in takes place in the State Street Grille of the D. Justin McCarthy College Center. Members of the Black & Gold Orientation staff will be available to offer directions and assistance as you arrive on campus. Check-in is between 8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.
If I have a disability, how do I request accommodations during the orientation program?
Individuals with disabilities who require accommodations including accompaniment by a Personal Care Assistant, sign language interpreter, or assistance with communications, must notify our office of those needs two weeks in advance by calling (508).626.4645.
Will meals be provided?
Muffins, fruit, and coffee are available at check-in. We will also provide lunch, and dinner at the end of the day.
Where do I park?
You may park in the Maynard Road Lot only. Please refer to the campus map and look for parking signs when you arrive on campus.
What about placement testing?
Entering students must have completed placement testing prior to Orientation. You should receive information about available placement testing dates in the spring. Call or email the Placement Testing Coordinator at 508.626.4905, if you have any questions about this.
Who are the Black & Gold Orientation Leaders?
The Black & Gold Orientation Leaders are comprised of students who are outstanding leaders in academics, and who are involved in campus life at FSU.
