FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
April 22, 2010

The Princeton Review, in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), announced the release of “The Princeton Review’s Guide to 286 Green Colleges” on April 20, 2010. Framingham State College is one of the colleges listed in the volume.

Colleges were selected for inclusion in the “Guide to 286 Green Colleges” on the basis of ten sustainability criteria including food expenditures from local, organic or otherwise environmentally preferable food, presence of programs to encourage alternatives to automobile use, the presence of a formal committee (which includes students) devoted to advancing sustainability on campus, presence of an environmental science/studies degree program, the school’s recycling and waste diversion rate, and others.

Congratulations to the student Green Team, to FSC’s sustainability officer Prof. Carl Hakansson, the Facilities Planning Subcommittee of the Budget and Resources Committee, to Warren Fairbanks for their leadership on this important matter, and to all involved in making FSC a Green College!
