Scholarship Resource Guide

Applications for all scholarships are available in the Consumer Sciences Department Office early in the Spring semester unless otherwise noted. Watch the Department's bulletin board for notice of additional scholarships.

Louisa A. Nicholass Scholarship Fund

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Enrolled in the Consumer Sciences Department at least one year
2. Minimum average of 3.0
3. Financial need
4. Complete application

Stuart B. Foster Scholarship Fund

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Enrolled in the Food and Nutrition Major
2. Minimum average of 3.0
3. Financial need
4. Complete application

Christine Carley Malzone Scholarship Fund

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Enrolled in the Food and Nutrition Major
2. Sound academic record
3. Complete application

Catherine Parker Scholarship

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Resident of:

   Attleboro North Attleboro Plainville Wrentham Foxboro Mansfield Norton Seekonk Rehoboth

2. Complete two semesters in major
3. QPA of 3.0
4. Personal statement

Alumni Scholarship

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Undergraduate student with eight full credit courses completed
2. Minimum average of 2.75
3. Financial need
4. Complete application

Jose Tombs Scholarship (Fall Application)

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Completed four courses at Framingham State College
2. Declared major in basic or applied science
3. Demonstrated proficiency in science course
4. Financial need
5. Complete application

Mildred Thomas Award

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Major in Consumer Sciences Department
2. Worcester County resident
3. Completed first semester
4. QPA of 2.0
5. Complete application by April 30

Christa McAuliffe Scholarship

$1000 yearly grant, recipient assists in McAuliffe Center Programs

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Full-time undergraduate student
2. Demonstrated talent in academic discipline
3. QPA of 3.3
4. Complete application by March 15

Justin McCarthy College Community Service Scholarship

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Successfully completed the equivalent of three four-course semesters in major
2. QPA of 2.7
3. Contributed volunteer services to the College Community
4. Consideration will also be honors and awards received, membership in honors societies, participation in co-curricular activities, voluntarism with the community
5. Include (4) information in separate letter explaining your contributions to the betterment of College and campus life
6. Include two letters of recommendation (one from a faculty member and one from an administrator at the College

Kathleen Browne Ittig Scholarship

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Undergraduate student having successfully completed two years in Consumer Sciences major
2. QPA of 3.0
3. Campus leadership ability will be considered but not determining factor in award
4. Obtain application at:

Gertrude Rose Missman Award

Criteria for eligibility:

1. Completed a minimum of eight full-credit courses
2. Is no more than a second semester junior
3. Demonstrates outstanding participation in student activities at Framingham State College in at least one of the following:
        Athletics
        Student Associations
        Club or Class Officer

The American Dietetic Association

The American Dietetic Association, through its many association groups, offers a variety of scholarships and educational stipends to individuals pursuing undergraduate and advanced degrees in dietetics or food and nutrition related areas. General scholarship and educational stipend information from the American Dietetic Association Foundation and other groups or associations can be accessed here.

The Massachusetts Dietetic Association

Massachusetts Dietetic Education Foundation (MDEF) offers two $1000 scholarships every year. One is for undergraduates, the other for graduates. Applications are due by May 1st for the following academic year. Scholarships are based on financial need, scholarship, and aptitude for the profession.
