The Education Department serves as the unit head for the teacher preparation programs at Framingham State University. The philosophy, goals and purposes of the Department reflect the overall mission, core values, and vision of Framingham State University. As the unit head for teacher preparation programs at Framingham State, the Education Department works to ensure that students meet the criteria of both state and national governing entities and professional organizations.
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Students in teacher preparation programs must demonstrate proficiency with the appropriate Massachusetts Subject Matter Knowledge for Teachers and the Massachusetts Professional Standards for Teachers.
Students in teacher preparation programs must demonstrate proficiency with NCATE unit standards.
Specialized Professional Associations
Depending on the licensure track which is pursued and the level of it (initial or advanced), students in teacher preparations programs also must demonstrate proficiency with the specialized professional association standards.
