Board of Higher Education Approves Framingham State College Master of Science in Nursing Degree
(Framingham, MA) - The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education today unanimously approved Framingham State College's proposal to offer the Master of Science in Nursing degree.
Approval means that beginning next fall, Framingham State College will help address the serious shortage of nurses in the Commonwealth by preparing nurse educators. Right now, many qualified applicants are now turned away from nursing schools due to lack of faculty. Within the next few years, Framingham State's new MSN will contribute many new nursing faculty to the profession.
The program at Framingham State College is now accepting applications for fall 2008. Two different tracks are offered, the education track and the leadership track. The education track focuses on teaching the next generation of nursing faculty, while the leadership track centers on educating future leaders of the profession to shape in the future of nursing in a variety of settings such as hospitals and insurance companies.
Because the program is offered part time and because all of the courses have both online and on-campus components, nurses will be able to continue working while pursuing the degree.
