Dr. Ludemann is planning a service learning/study abroad experience for late May-early June 2014. This trip will be to Antigua, Guatemala for 2-3 weeks during which travelers will volunteer for 20 hours a week at a school for low income children or at a hospital for severely malnourished children. Other opportunities may be available depending on need, interests, and Spanish skills. Additionally, 20 hours per week will be spent learning Spanish via one-on-one tutoring. Housing and most meals will be provided either within the Ixchel Spanish School or with nearby host families. Tentatively, volunteer living and work arrangements will be made with AboarderView.org, with fees ranging from approximately $1000 to $1500 depending on length of stay and tutoring. Additionally, cost of air fare from the US to Guatemala City is approximately $700. Some personal expense monies will be needed for Sunday meals and weekend optional activities. Course credit may be possible through DGCE enrollment. For more information, please contact Dr. Ludemann in 209 Crocker Hall or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
