The Psychology Club

In past years, interested psychology majors have gotten together and formed the Psychology Club. The psychology club is part of student services and is controlled by the students, not faculty. The club members are required to invite a psychology faculty member to serve as  sponsor. Previous psychology club members have met at least monthly to discuss issues of interest, to plan for, scheduled and attend presentations by speakers on various topics of interest, to participate in fund raisers and other community-related activities, and to hold elections. Recent activities of the Psychology Club have included the following areas:

• Educational -  workshops and events to learn about psychological topics, academic requirements, faculty, and career options.
• Service - projects and support of various campus and community events.
• Social - a forum for meeting and getting to know other psychology majors & conducting club elections.

As part of the Student Government Association, there are procedures for electing leaders. Dues may also be collected and some student activities money may be requested. 

	The faculty would very much like psychology club members to consider forming a new majors student-mentor program, participating in department-related research activities, and taking over the yearly updating of the student handbook or  sections of the department webpage and/or some of the tasks related to publication of the FSC Journal of Behavioral Sciences.
	Psychology Club membership is something most students should indicate on their resumes. Leadership roles are particularly important to include.
