What's New in Study Abroad?
The Office of International Education is pleased to announce FSU’s 2nd Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship winner, Nathalie Ohman! Nathalie was one of 900 students nationally who were awarded scholarships to study abroad for the spring 2012 term. She is receiving a $3500 scholarship, which she will use to study at the Institute of Spanish Studies in Valencia, Spain. Nathalie is a Nutrition major and Spanish Language minor, who plans to utilize her language skills in her future career. We congratulate her on this achievement!
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000 and is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Award recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process and must use the award to defray eligible study abroad costs. These costs include program tuition, room and board, books, local transportation, insurance and international airfare. Award amounts vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being approximately $4,000.
