Employee Guide to Information Technology Services
Getting Started

User Accounts

Framingham State College employees are provided with a single username and password that provides access to computing resources.  New employees will receive a letter from Human Resources with their computer account information.

Full and part time faculty and staff may be eligible for a network, email, WebRam and Ingres account. To request any of these accounts, please fill out an application for a FSC user account, which is available at http://its.frc.mass.edu/itn/fuseracct.htm or at the Faculty/Staff Helpdesk. Since a signature is required from your Director or Chair, a hard copy of this form must be submitted. Once the form has been received, the accounts will be completed within one business day.

Network Account

Full time faculty and staff may be eligible for a network account. This account enables users to log into FSC's CAMPUS domain and use campus resources such as network printers, file storage and other servers needed for daily office use.

When logging into the CAMPUS domain there will be 3 boxes:

USERNAME: Enter your username
If you do not know your username, please contact the Faculty/Staff Helpdesk
PASSWORD: Enter your password
Your initial password will be provided by ITS
DOMAIN: Using the drop down arrow, choose CAMPUS.

If 3 boxes do not show, click on the Option button and the 3rd box should appear.

To change your network password, click CTRL+ALT+DELETE at the same time and choose the Change Password button. You will be prompted to put in your old password then your new password twice.

For tips and tricks on choosing a password, please go to
http://its.frc.mass.edu/itn/ffaq.htm.

E-mail Access

All faculty and staff may be eligible for a FSC e-mail account. E-mail accounts usually follow the pattern of first initial-lastname@frc.mass.edu. Example: John Doe would be jdoe@frc.mass.edu. The Faculty/Staff Helpdesk will supply users with an e-mail password once the e-mail account is created.

E-mail can be accessed on campus through Microsoft Outlook. Once the FSC user account application is filled out and an e-mail name and password is created, User Services will set up Outlook for the user. E-mail can be used off campus through iPlanet at http://sagan.frc.mass.edu.

You must use iPlanet to change your e-mail password or to create a "vacation" or "out of the office" auto reply. Instructions for changing your password or creating an auto reply can be found at http://its.frc.mass.edu/itn/ffaq.htm.

myFSC

myFSC is a Web application used at the College to manage faculty, staff and student information and data. Log in to this system to access your course schedules, demographic information, class lists, and attendance. Access to myFSC is available from the Framingham State College Web site at http://www.framingham.edu or directly at http://myfsc.framingham.edu. If you experience problems using myFSC, contact the Faculty/Staff Helpdesk at ext. 4357(on campus) or (508) 620-1220 ext.4357 (off campus).

Ingres

Ingres is a relational database system that stores all of the data managed on the College campus. The system includes a variety of programming tools that have been used to develop a large collection of applications serving many departments and offices of the College. The applications include many customized reports. Ingres access is provided on an individual basis, with strict control over which applications each authorized user may use. The connection to Ingres is protected using your Windows 2000 network username and password. The first time you log in, or if you change your Windows password, you must create an Ingres client configuration for your current Windows 2000 network username and password.

For directions on how to rest your client configuration, please go to http://its.frc.mass.edu/itn/ffaq.htm.
