Many colleges and Universities around the country have been following principles of safe, healthy working and learning environments to adopt Tobacco Free Campus Policies. Many sisters state universities in the Massachusetts State Colleges and University System already have adopted and implemented such policies.
Rationales for a tobacco-free campus rest on findings of the Surgeon General that tobacco use creates a health hazard for users and non-users, and of the EPA which classifies tobacco as a carcinogen, and source of health and environmental hazards.
