About the Special Collections and Archives
The Special Collections and Archives at Framingham State College were established in the early 1970s in order to collect, preserve and provide access to materials that reflect the history and development of the college. Such materials include non-current college records, publications, photographs, manuscripts, rare books, videos, DVDs, and ephemera. The Special Collections and Archives are open to researchers both within and beyond the Framingham State College community.

Framingham State College and the History of Normal Schools in America
June 2008-March 2009
All are welcome to come and view the new exhibit that depicts the Early History of Normal Schools in America and Framingham State College’s role as being the First State Normal School in the country. We opened in Lexington, Mass. as the Lexington Normal School, on July 3, 1839. See the detailed early history of this institution as it became more and more successful and out-grew two locations, finally ending here at its present and final location in Framingham, Mass. in 1853.
Exhibit runs through March 2009.

Politics comes to Framingham State College
All are welcome to come and view this new exhibit that depicts the many Politicians and politically related visitors over ranging from the 1940s-Present. Come and see this expansive exhibit, follow the college and the student activity through many controversial issues over the years.

Permanent Exhibit
All are invited to come and view the new and improved Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Exhibit, located on the main floor of the Henry Whittemore Library. The display includes artifacts, photos, and manuscript materials that are part of the Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Collection. This collection was donated by Christa’s mother and former FSC alum. Grace Corrigan (1979), in January 2000, to the Henry Whittemore Library – Archives/Special Collections Department.
The exhibit also features “The Mars Rover – Opportunity and Spirit”, a unique one-to-one scale model, built and donated to The Christa Corrigan McAuliffe Center by Master Artisan, Rod Whitten in January 2006.
