How Do I Find Journal, Magazine or
Newspaper Citations or Abstracts?

  1. Some important articles are not available in full-text online, but are available online as citations and/or abstracts. Some databases with important citations that are not available full-text are the MLA Bibliography (through EBSCO Host), PsychInfo (also through EBSCOHost), and many databases in FirstSearch such as Art Abstracts, Agricola, and Basic Biosis.
  2. If you find an article in a database online that is not in full-text, to find the full-text article, you would first check the Full Text Electronic Journal Finder, by searching the title of your journal.
  3. If you do not find your journal online in full-text in any of the databases at FSC, then you should check to see if the FSC library holds the journal in print by either doing a “journal title search” in the Minuteman Library Network online catalog (limiting to Framingham State) or by looking at the binders of the print listing of journals held by the library. These binders are located in The Library and are scattered on the tables around the main computer area on the first floor.
  4. If you still can’t find your journal article in the library, then you can either Interlibrary Loan the article through the Interlibrary Loan Online Request Form or find it in an area library. (See: How Do I Find Journals in Other Libraries).
