1.  Acknowledging your sources, respecting rights of authorship, and responsible use of information and resources.

2.  Misrepresentation of the research and writing of another as one's own (or plagiarism), not citing your sources, and falsifying research are among the things that define academic dishonesty.

3.  Loss or lowering of grades for a course or project, expulsion from institution, a hearing of the dishonest party at either a college or a local court.

4.  Manuals of style give information on how to properly create bibliographies and footnotes.   For example in English you would either use:  MLA Style Guide, Turabian Style Guide, or Chicago Manual of Style. Different style guides often correspond to different subject areas. You should check with your professor about this.

5.  You need to cite information acquired from the Web in the same manner as information found in a printed book or journal.  Manuals of style should include information on citing electronic resources.
