Football Wins Conference; Earns another Trip to NCAA Tournament

The Framingham State University football team secured the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Title and a trip to the 2018 NCAA Division III Football Championship with a 47-6 victory over Worcester State University on Saturday, November 10.

It is the team’s fifth MASCAC title in the past six years. They will now play undefeated Brockport State on Saturday, Nov. 17 in New York. Brockport is the 4th ranked team in the nation.

Framingham State wraps up the regular season with a record of 8-2, including a 7-1 record in MASCAC play. The key victory of the season came in week ten when the Rams defeated previously unbeaten Western Connecticut 48-26 to assume the top spot in the league standings. The 2018 Rams led MASCAC in scoring offense averaging 33.5 points per game, touchdowns scored (49) and total defense, allowing just 277.0 yards per game and were second in the league in scoring defense allowing just 17.9 points per game.

Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between Framingham State and Brockport. The winner of the Framingham/Brockport game will advance to the face the winner of the Renssellaer/Husson first round game on November 24th.
