COVID Mitigation Efforts Moving Forward – 6/2/21

Dear FSU Community,

In the biggest sign yet of the power of vaccinations to get us back to normal, Gov. Charlie Baker announced the lifting of all remaining COVID19 restrictions effective May 29th.

Please be advised that out of an abundance of caution, the University is going to maintain all of our current COVID19 restrictions through the Ram Graduation Walk and Alumni Reunion Weekend scheduled for June 2-5, 2021.

Attached you will find a detailed breakdown of the University's mitigation efforts moving forward. These will be continually updated to respond to community public health information as well as state or federal guidance that may suggest or require alteration of these standards.  Please note any relaxation of safety standards apply to fully vaccinated individuals only.

The Baker Administration is able to take steps to reopen the Commonwealth's economy because Massachusetts is on track to meet the goal set in December to fully vaccinate over 4 million individuals by the first week of June. The Commonwealth leads the nation in vaccinating residents, with more than 75% of adults receiving at least one dose. To date, 4.4 million residents have received a first dose, with 3.6 million fully vaccinated.

The biggest takeaway from all of this should be that vaccinations work! They are the reason things are returning to normal, and so I urge everyone who hasn't already been vaccinated to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.

This is exciting news following a very long year. We fully anticipate a largely normal, in-person semester come fall. For additional information on the guidance we will be following as we work toward the fall, visit the state's website on the Reopening of Higher Education.

Sincerely,

Javier
