COVID Testing Around Thanksgiving Break – Nov. 19, 2021

Dear FSU Community,

It's hard to believe the fall semester is already more than halfway over. I continue to be grateful for your efforts to keep our community safe. Despite the pandemic, this has been an active, productive and enjoyable semester.

With Thanksgiving Break coming up next week, I'm reaching out to encourage everyone on campus to get tested for COVID-19 prior to leaving and after you return in order to protect our community, as well as the family and friends you will be seeing over break. To facilitate this effort, we are adding testing days over the next two weeks:

  • Pre-Thanksgiving testing will be available on Monday, Nov. 22nd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be in addition to our regular testing day on Tuesday, Nov. 23rd, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Post-Thanksgiving testing will be available on Monday, Nov. 29th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will also have testing during the regular time on Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • To view the full asymptomatic testing schedule for the remainder of the semester, visit our COVID19 website.

Please make time to come in and get tested. It's important to remember that those with compromised immune systems are counting on the rest of us to take proper precautions, which include getting vaccinated and testing to ensure we don't have breakthrough cases.

Also, remember to get your seasonal flu vaccine if you haven't already. The flu season is in full swing, and it's more important than ever to prevent outbreaks.

Finally, the Baker Administration announced on Thursday that all Massachusetts residents 18 years and older are eligible to receive their booster shots six months after getting their second Pfizer or Moderna shots, or two months after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Boosters have proven critical to boosting waning immunity and preventing breakthrough cases, so I encourage everyone who is eligible to schedule their booster shots.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Break.

Sincerely,
Javier
