Information on Contacting the Information Technology Services (ITS) Office – March 26, 2020

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Framingham State University has implemented some operational changes that we want you to be aware of in response to the latest guidance from the Governor and public health authorities that went into effect at twelve noon Tuesday, March 24th in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The physical presence of ITS staff on campus is now restricted to a reduced number of on campus employees in an effort to maintain a balance between the well-being of our workforce (and broader community) while also maintaining continuity of support for remote work, teaching and learning at the University.

We anticipate that there is likely to be another surge in demand for information technology services as remote courses of study get underway Monday, March 30th. Rest assured that all ITS staff continues to work on a full-time basis as we prepare for this next wave of expected surge in demand for IT support as best we can (given the current circumstances). ITS remains available to provide assistance, answer your questions, and address your concerns as we continue transitioning to remote work, teaching and learning. Fortunately, nearly all of the support ITS provides to individuals can be accomplished remotely and without face-to-face interaction. So, if you need remote IT support or would like to schedule an appointment for one-on-one consultation here are the various ways to contact us;

If the question is specific to teaching remotely;

When you contact us, please leave a phone number (home or cell) so we may respond to you directly.

As a reminder, the IT Service Desk within the Technology Resource Center in the Library is closed for in-person/on-campus service until further notice. We recognize you may still need some level of face-to-face IT support, particularly next week, so ITS is continuing to offer limited in person support in Hemenway Hall labs (room 122) and the ITS-Education Technology Office from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. However, even though these areas will be open and staffed by ITS personnel we require that everyone contact us in advance to make an appointment for all face-to-face IT support so that we can maintain social distancing in accordance with current guidelines. So please, request appointments for in-person support and consultations only if it is absolutely necessary.

Stay well!

Thank You,

Information Technology Services
