Updated Mask Guidance – August 5, 2021

Dear FSU Community,

I'm writing to update you on some of our mitigation measures heading into the Fall semester given the surge of COVID-19 across the country driven by the more contagious Delta Variant.

In line with new guidance from the CDC, the University will reinstate our indoor mask requirement for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in all public indoor areas on campus. The effective date of this change will be Monday, August 9, until further notice.

It's my hope that the current surge will abate as more and more people continue to get vaccinated and we will be able to loosen this mitigation measure at some point during the semester. But at this time, it is prudent for us to stay in line with federal and state safety guidance.

Vaccinations continue to be the best way to protect yourself from COVID-19. Though breakthrough infections do occur, the vaccine has proved to be very effective at both preventing infection and dramatically reducing symptoms and severe illness in those who do get infected. All students who plan to be on campus this semester and do not receive an exemption, must provide vaccination information through the Medicat system prior to the start of the semester. Employees are also strongly encouraged to document their COVID vaccination information through the Human Resources Office (click here to do so) as soon as possible.

For questions, please contact the Health Center at healthcenter@framingham.edu or for employees, the Office of Human Resources.

Sincerely,

Javier
