Weekly Testing Update – April 30, 2021

Dear FSU Community,

The University administered 815 COVID-19 tests this week, resulting in one positive. All of our latest data is now viewable on our COVID19 Dashboard.

With the final week of classes coming up next week, I want to remind all students that you must participate in off-boarding testing prior to moving out. If you plan to move out before final exams, make sure that you participate in testing next week. This is a requirement from the state in order to protect the communities you will be returning to.

As you should already be aware, Framingham State University is joining the rest of the State University System and a growing number of colleges around the country in requiring students to get the COVID19 vaccination prior to the Fall 2021 semester. I encourage everyone to make your appointments as soon as possible. The CDC defines fully vaccinated as two weeks after the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two weeks after the second dose of the two-dose Moderna and Pfizer vaccine. The vaccines are safe, free and effective and this mandate is in the best interest of the health and safety of our community.

Once you are fully vaccinated, you can upload your vaccination card and enter your immunizations into Medicat. More information on this policy, including details on exemptions, will be available soon.

As always, keep wearing your face masks, practicing social distancing and good hygiene, participating in COVID testing, and avoiding large gatherings. We expect all of this whether or not you have been fully vaccinated. Monitor your health daily and if you are showing any symptoms, no matter how mild, you should contact the Health Center.

Stay safe,

Javier
