Weekly Testing Update – March 25, 2021

Dear FSU Community,

The University administered 780 COVID19 tests on Monday and Tuesday this week, resulting in 4 positives. Contact tracing of close contacts began immediately. All of our latest data is now viewable on our COVID19 Dashboard.

This week's numbers represent a small uptick in positives, and is a reminder that we all need to remain vigilant in adhering to our safety protocols as we finish out the semester. After several weeks of declining numbers statewide, Massachusetts has seen an uptick in cases the past two weeks as new, more contagious variants of COVID19 continue to spread.

This news also underscores the importance of getting everyone vaccinated as soon as possible. The state's vaccine website is the best resource for information on the rollout of vaccines in Massachusetts, including who is currently eligible, how you can sign up, and locations where you can get vaccinated. Even though Phase 3 - when the general public becomes eligible - does not begin until April 19th, everyone can pre-register for their shot now.

The vaccine is free, safe and effective and will strongly urge everyone to get it as soon as you are eligible.

As always, please continue to wear face masks indoors and outdoors at FSU, practice social distancing, participate in COVID testing if requested, and avoid large gatherings. Monitor your health daily and if you are showing any symptoms, no matter how mild, you should contact the Health Center.

Stay safe,

Javier
