CRRSAA Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund 2 Disclosure

Quarter 2 Disclosure

Framingham State University has received funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF 2) under section 314 (a)(1),(a) (4) of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260.  Some of this funding will be used for emergency grants to students and can cover expenses due to the disruption of campus operations from COVID-19 or any expense in the institution’s cost of attendance.  Such expenses may include tuition, fees, housing, food, books and supplies, technology, health care, or child care.

Framingham State University is required to disclose the following information to the public regarding our funding from the HEERF 2:

  1. We acknowledge that we have signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the HEERF Certification and Agreement. We intend to use $1,948,876 of the funding we received on emergency grants to students.
  2. We have received $1,948,876 to be used for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  3. As of June 30, 2021, we have distributed $1,948,876 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  4. At this time, we estimate that 9,516 students are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021. Please note that the actual number of students receiving emergency grants may be different.
  5. As of June 30, 2021, we have distributed Emergency Financial Aid Grants to 2,575 students.
  6. To prioritize students with exceptional need, we first awarded Emergency Financial Aid Grants of $800 to assist with room and board expenses to undergraduate students enrolled in two or more classes during the spring 2021 semester who filed a 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and whose FAFSA indicated that they would have qualified for a Federal Pell Grant based on their expected family contributions. We awarded Emergency Financial Aid Grants of $200 to assist with tuition and fee expenses to students enrolled in one class during the spring semester who had filed a FAFSA.  We also awarded Emergency Financial Aid Grants of $750 to assist with room and board expenses to undergraduate and graduate students who had completed a 2020-2021 FAFSA, enrolled in two or more classes during the spring 2021 semester, and who did not appear to qualify for Federal Pell Grants based on their FAFSA expected family contributions or other information.  We did not award Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students who withdrew or took a leave of absence prior to the conclusion of the University’s institutional refund period for the spring 2021 semester.
Please note that because of the HEERF 2 overall student portion fund amount, one student received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant of $226.  This student was also awarded $574 in a grant funded by the institutional portion of our CRRSAA HEERF 2 fund, for a total grant of $800.
  7. Students that received Emergency Financial Aid Grants from HEERF 2 of the CRRSAA were notified in writing of their eligibility for the grant, the amount of the grant, and the component of the cost of attendance that it was awarded for.  Students did not need to complete an application (aside from the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to receive the funds.
