Coordinated Program Application Process

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying to the Coordinated Program in Dietetics you must:

  • already be accepted into a B.S. or M.S. Food and Nutrition program. Undergraduates must have a minimum second semester junior standing.
  • have an overall quality point average of 2.7 (4.0 scale) and a science quality point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) at the time of application.
  • have completed or be in the process of completing prerequisite courses in chemistry, biology, and food and nutrition.
  • have completed (or currently registered for) Anatomy and Physiology and Biochemistry courses with a C- or better grade within the past 5 years.
  • have completed a 200-hour work experience in the field within 5 years prior to application.
  • attend a mandatory informational application meeting in the fall semester.
  • be able to demonstrate competencies in accordance with current ACEND standards in different care settings. This includes, but is not limited to, hands-on physical exam of patients and fingerstick lab work.
  • have a plan in place for transportation to off-campus supervised practice sites that may be up to 1 hour from your planned residence. This may include your own insured personal vehicle, public transportation, ride share, or other.
  • be able to provide documentation of all required health examinations and vaccinations.
  • be able to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI)/ Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check.

Work Experience

Prior to being accepted into the CPD program, a 200-hour work experience in the field is required. This experience satisfies the requirements for NUTR 002 Orientation to Dietetics (Word) and requires prior approval from the Director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics.  The work experience must have been completed within five years prior to application. A supervisor in this work experience must provide a reference as part of your application.

Your application will include:

  • The CPD Application (Word).  Note candidates for the master degree must be accepted to the MS Food and Nutrition/Nutrition Science before applying to the Coordinated Program in Dietetics.  Apply here
  • Two faculty references (prefer Framingham State University faculty) faculty references (Word)
  • A reference (Word) from your work experience

Applications are due by January 24th for entry the following fall. 

Selection Process

Admission into the program is competitive and we accept a maximum of 24 students each year. The CPD Student Selection Committee reviews all applications. In addition to the minimum eligibility criteria above extracurricular activities, service, honors, and potential contribution to the field of nutrition and dietetics may be taken into consideration. Applicants must also be able to meet the technical standards required to complete the program. Notification

Students who clearly meet the qualifications are notified of acceptance before registration for the fall semester. The Selection Committee re-evaluates other applications the first week of August after prerequisite course grades from spring and summer courses and/or work references are available.
