Dr. John O'Connor

Dr. O’Connor has 30+ years of experience in the medical device, aviation security and semiconductor industries, guiding/driving marketing, design/development, and program management of cost-effective, complex production equipment. He has led organizations during breakthrough technological/marketing changes and through overall product life cycles; has 10 U.S. patents issued, 8 pending, and is an invited presenter at technical conferences worldwide. 

As Vice President of Systems Engineering at CSA Medical Inc., Dr. O'Connor leads development of advanced & product development in liquid nitrogen spray cryogenic treatments of the GI tract and airways. He has brought program management rigor to the team and spurred significant innovation at the Company.

Prior to CSA Medical, Dr. O'Connor was Chief Technology Officer at Analogic Corporation leading advanced technology development and IP generation & discovery/nurture of disruptive technologies from academia. He brought a unique handheld ultrasound device and multi-modality surgical guidance systems to market & partnered with business development to complete due diligence of new opportunities. He guided 400+ engineering professionals w/w developing CT for medical/aviation security, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, DNA analysis and controls systems

Previously, Dr. O’Connor was General Manager of Endovations at Boston Scientific, leading development of the industry’s first single-use endoscopic system, and accomplishing program development positioning for successful regulatory approvals/commercialization

At Genus, Inc., which he joined as Principal Staff Physicist, Dr. O’Connor successfully transitioned from technical to marketing management. He joined Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates in 1998 as Strategic Marketing Manager

Dr. O’Connor holds an AB in Physics and Mathematics, Magna cum Laude, from the College of the Holy Cross (where he was a scholar/athlete) and a Ph.D. in Physics from Yale University.
