4+1 B.A. in Political Science to Master's of Public Administration (MPA)

Bachelor’s/Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Public Administration (B/MPA)

This 4+1 program provides students the opportunity to complete course work at the undergraduate and graduate level that will prepare them for a career in the public sector, including work in government and non-profit organizations, positions in the private sector who are involved with and affected by governmental activities, and careers in government at the management level. In this period of increased interdependency among the public, non-profit, and private sectors, the program is dedicated to the increased responsibilities and challenges confronting the public manager.


Requirements for Admission into the Graduate program for current Framingham State University students majoring in Political Science or minoring in Public Administration:

  • Junior status with an overall GPA of 3.00 (application to the master's program should be submitted at the start of junior year),
  • Completion of an undergraduate introductory statistics course,
  • A typed, 300-word personal statement discussing the reason for seeking a master’s degree in view of career plans,
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation—at least two (2) of which must be from Political Science department faculty members,
  • A 4+1 Program Specific Application obtained from the Office of Graduate Admissions.
