Deadlines for First-Year Applicants

Mark your calendar with these important dates for admission and financial aid.

Fall Entry

Early Action
November 15

You must submit your application, application fee (or waiver), and all required materials by 11:59 p.m. EST on November 15. Doing so will give you the best chance of receiving your decision on the Early Action notification date of December 15.

Early Action applicants will receive one of the following decisions: admitted, not admitted, or deferred to Regular Decision and will need to submit additional information.

FSU Early Action decisions are not binding – applying EA does not restrict you from applying to other colleges and universities.

Note: Required materials that arrive after the deadline will still be reviewed, however, your decision might not be released on December 15.

Regular Decision
February 15 - Extended to April 19

You must submit your application, application fee (or waiver), and all required materials by 11:59 p.m. EST on February 15. Doing so may give you the best chance for receiving your decision by mid-March. The Admissions Committee reviews files in the order they complete, and decisions are released on a rolling basis.

Note: Required materials that arrive after the deadline will still be reviewed, however, your decision might not be released by mid-March.

Spring Entry

December 1

You must submit your application, application fee (or waiver), and all required materials by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 1. Doing so will allow the Admissions Committee enough time to release your decision, and help you prepare for the spring semester should you decide to enroll.

Admission Notification

Admission decisions are released through the admissions portal, where you can check your application status. You will also receive a paper copy of your decision letter.

The Admissions Committee may reach out while reviewing your file for clarification or to request additional information. Please regularly check your email to ensure you don’t miss any important communication. Your decision may be significantly delayed if you do not take action.

If you’re not admitted to FSU – it’s nothing personal. Our staff is happy to speak about other pathways you can follow to gain admission, such as transferring. Contact us to learn more.

Honors & Scholarship Notification

Honors Program

If you’re selected to join the honors program, you’ll receive notification with your offer of admission. There is no separate application to be considered for honors, we automatically review all first-year applicants. Learn about our honors program.

Mancuso Scholarships

The Mancuso English and Humanities Scholarships require a separate application. These four-year scholarships are renewable for eight semesters and provide 100% of tuition, fees, and room & board. Learn more about the Mancuso Scholarships.

Financial Aid

You can apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Using the FAFSA results, FSU’s Office of Financial Aid will prepare an aid package for you.

To be reviewed for priority financial aid, submit your FAFSA by the following deadlines:
