Description:
In this session we will dive into the WHY statement: why it’s important, how to create one for your organization, and how to take that statement and put it into play. Utilizing ideas from Simon Sinek’s book “Start with Why,” we will go over why it’s important to have a WHY statement, how to craft that statement following Sinek’s theory, and how to use that statement to better program events and communicate your purpose to campus. We will explain the importance of the statement and will have an activity that will help organization leaders craft a statement following Sinek’s “To __ so that __” example. There will be time for group discussion when crafting the statements and at the end, students will be able to share their statements with the group. To wrap up, we will tie in utilizing that completed statement to better plan events, reevaluate your organization, and help your personal development.
