New Student Course Selection
Welcome to the Course Selection process for the Spring 2024 semester. This is your opportunity to meet with an advisor to discuss selecting your courses, searching for ones that will fit your major and university requirements, and reviewing courses that simply spark your interests.
FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
Incoming first-year students will meet with an advisor to discuss their major (or academic interests, if Undeclared) and other required coursed. Students will plan their first schedule and complete registration.
Instructions:
Step 1- Schedule an advising appointment Starfish link "coming soon" for appointments beginning June 3rd.
Step 2-Placement Testing for writing and math
If testing for writing is required, you will be emailed by the Writing Placement Coordinator, Dr. Patricia Lynne.
If you are considering study in the sciences, computer science, accounting, economics or finance, you must take the math placement test that is in your Canvas site on myFramingham. Those results will help us place you into the appropriate math course. The test is online and always available, and scores are available within 24 hours for us to use in advising you. Questions? Step 3- Prepare for your appointment by reviewing the materials that are linked below so you may have a productive appointment.
- First Semester Recommended Courses-This page will provide you guidance as to which courses first-year students should be looking to take during the first semester.
- Rams 101 First-Year Seminar- This required course is offered with many unique themes. Please review the course descriptions and select several that interest you. Your advisor will work to help you find one that fits your schedule.

- Understanding your Degree Audit- This video will provide a demonstration of your online transcript, DegreeWorks. This will be a valuable tool to help you understand requirements, how courses are applied and what you have remaining to complete as you progress through your degree requirements.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
Starting in late April, incoming transfers will receive an email from their Department Chair with information about how to schedule a virtual appointment to review their transfer credits and Degree Audit, choose fall courses, and complete registration.
